Accounting Manager, GL Operations & Intercompany

Coinbase is building the infrastructure for an open financial system. As Accounting Manager, Global GL Operations, you will own end-to-end global close activities and lead core GL operations across corporate OpEx, operating cash, capitalized software, and intercompany accounting. You will play a pivotal role in scaling our systems, strengthening internal controls, and collaborating with Product, Engineering, FP&A, Treasury, and Tax to turn complex product launches into close-ready operational processes.

What you’ll do

• Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities across global entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and consolidated reporting.
• Own accounting operations for corporate OpEx, including accruals, reclasses, recurring entries, and variance analysis in partnership with FP&A and Source-to-Pay.
• Oversee operating cash reconciliations, aging of reconciling items, and close-related partnership with Treasury.
• Guide accounting for capitalized software, including capitalization assessments, asset additions, amortization, and related controls.
• Oversee intercompany processes, including routine billings, shared-services recharges, cash settlement support, eliminations, and foreign-currency considerations.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance Systems, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and Payroll to support new products, market expansion, and scalable accounting processes.
• Strengthen the close through automation, SOX-compliant controls, clear documentation, audit readiness, and effective leadership of accounting team members and BPO partners.

Required Skills and Experience

• 9+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including experience leading or managing a team, FTEs, or BPO resources.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
• Strong experience leading multi-entity month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, variance analysis, and consolidated reporting.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX controls, and accounting process documentation.
• Experience across several of the following: operating expenses, cash reconciliations, capitalized software, intercompany accounting, consolidations, or foreign-currency accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, partner cross-functionally on product or market expansion, and exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
• Experience with an ERP system such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP; strong spreadsheet skills and responsible AI fluency, with SQL or analytics-tool experience a plus.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
